Adopt-A-Family Program 2017
GUIDELINES FOR SPONSORS & CHRISTMAS HAMPER CONTENTS
Choose to adopt a family this Christmas, and do their shopping for them! Donors contact Interfaith Food Bank and we will provide the age and gender of each family member. Donors purchase all necessary supplies, then drop off their bundle of love at Interfaith for us to distribute to your adopted family.
For those who choose to shop – please contact Interfaith to be matched with a family. Once we have provided names and ages of family members, you can shop using our pre-set hamper list and add toys for the children in the home. Please do not wrap gifts or include perishable food items.
For those who do not have time to shop – we’ll do the work for you; simply make a donation designated for one of the following:
Family of 2 – $150; Family of 3-4 – $200; Family of 5-6 – $250; Family of 7-8 – $300
HAMPER ITEMS – It is important to remember that in order to be fair to all families who come to us for assistance, pre-set hamper lists should be followed as closely as possible. Uniformity is necessary to ensure the continuation and fairness of this program. We suggest that you purchase a gift certificate from a grocer of your choice for the meat/fowl and perishable items to ensure food safety as we allow time for collecting items and scheduling families for pickup. Your personal involvement and willingness of spirit is the essence of this gesture of gift-giving… the monetary value and/or quantity of purchases should not be the focus.
TOYS FOR CHILDREN 17 & UNDER – We estimate to provide for 2000 children. We have estimated the cost of toys per child at $50.00. This gives you the choice of one or two medium presents, or one large present and several stocking stuffers for each child.
GIFTS FOR PARENTS – We are leaving donors with the option of whether to include gifts for the adults in the home. As with children’s gifts, please leave unwrapped.
CHARITABLE TAX RECEIPTS – Charitable tax receipts can be issued for gifts of food and/or funds. Proof of purchase is required for non-food gifts. To make things easy, keep your till receipts and submit them with your adoption.
PROGRAM DEADLINE – To allow us sufficient time to match donors and families, we require all adoptions to be returned to our office by December 11, 2017. Inquiries received after this date will not be assigned to specific families, but will instead be generic in nature and become part of our regular Christmas distribution.
Please note: We are unable to accept drop offs of Adoptions on Friday, December 8th due to our Volunteer Appreciation Event being hosted that day – please call to arrange your drop off time.
