Christmas Market Vendor Application

Vendor Information

Vending spaces are booked and mapped according to a carefully laid out event program, created by Interfaith Food Bank. This includes ensuring that proper vending sites are allocated for each vendor, proper setup times are scheduled for each vendor, and that the group of event vendors supply a wide variety of items to the community.

Tables are 8’. Spots are limited.

Clients of Interfaith Food Bank are invited to be a vendor free of charge. 

Vendors will be notified of the success/decline of their Christmas Market Vendor Applications within seven days of the application being received. Payments for successful applications will be due on or before December 6, 2025. Payments are able to be made at/payable to:

To become a Vendor for an agreed upon vending space at the Christmas Market at Interfaith Food Bank Co-op Community Kitchen, you are subject to the terms & conditions as follows:
1.Any representative of the Interfaith staff shall have access to said premises at all times.
2.The Vendor will conduct business in a quiet, cordial and orderly manner, and maintain their assigned premises including but not limited to; all garbage, recycling and cans are to be maintained and disposed of in the appropriate vendor designated area.
3.Vendors offering any food sales must comply with all current health and safety regulations for low risk foods (Click to learn more). There will be no sales of high risk foods at this market

4.All vendor facilities must be approved by Interfaith Food Bank staff. Any unapproved facilities, or facilities found to be beyond the measurements included in this application, may incur further charges and/or penalties.
5.The Vendor will NOT be permitted to conduct any exhibition of character, show or amusement, which is not approved by Interfaith Food Bank.
6.The Vendor will post signage containing clearly stated prices of items being sold where able to be distinctly visible for the customer. All signage is subject to approval from Interfaith Food Bank.
7.Non-Food Vendors or Vendors selling items not classified under the health code as a food or beverage item, must be approved by Interfaith Food Bank.
8.The Vendor will be responsible for any damages to the grounds, fixtures or any Interfaith Food Bank property, during the setup, take down, and operation of their services.
9.The Vendor agrees to operate for the set hours and will not take down their structure or remove it from its location, until such time has been reached.
10.The Vendor will be solely responsible for all incidents and injuries to persons and property, caused by negligence or breach of warranty on their part, or the part of their employees or agents, and here by agree to indemnify Interfaith Food Bank from any claim.
11.The Vendor will remit the non-refundable payment in full on or before December 6th of event year.
12.The Vendor will have access to unloading area near the kitchen for loading and unloading, located at the west side of IFB Co-op Kitchen. This parking area is only available at the beginning and the end of the event for loading and unloading. This means that the spots are temporary and all vehicles must be gone prior to 9:30am.

Key Rules

  • Effective June 1, 2020: Albertans can sell low-risk home-prepared foods from home or at special events (craft fairs, farmers’ markets, festivals).

  • No permit, commercial kitchen, or routine inspection required for low-risk foods.

  • Labels required, including:

    • “Prepared in a home kitchen not subject to inspection”

    • “Not for resale”

    • Operator’s name, business name, email/phone

    • Food name and date prepared

  • Only operator/household can prepare food. Helpers may sell at events.

  • No onsite dining at home, but free samples allowed.

  • Foods must be packaged at home and sold in that packaging.

  • No resale of others’ home-prepared foods.

  • Must follow Communicable Diseases Regulation (don’t prepare/sell if sick).


What Counts as Low-Risk Food?

  • Baked goods (bread, cookies, muffins, pies, donuts, churros — but no meat, dairy, cheese, or cream fillings).

  • Sweets/snacks (candy, fudge, toffee, popcorn, chips, brittle, cotton candy, candied apples, chocolate-covered dried fruit/nuts).

  • Dry foods (dried fruits/veggies, grains, noodles without egg, coffee, tea, spices, herbs, granola, trail mix, nuts, baking mixes).

  • Condiments/ingredients (honey, syrup, vinegars, nut butter).

  • Fresh produce (whole fruits/vegetables, microgreens).

  • Controlled foods (jam, jelly, pickles, relish, salsa, fruit butter — must meet pH or water activity safety standards).

Not allowed: meat, poultry, seafood, raw milk, uninspected eggs, dairy fillings.


Food Safety Requirements

  • Use safe water (municipal or tested private).

  • Protect from contamination (separate raw and prepared foods, cover, package properly).

  • Use food-grade containers/equipment.

  • Keep kitchen, storage, and transport areas clean; sanitize surfaces and utensils.

  • Practice good hygiene (wash hands, no preparing food if sick, keep pets/children out).

  • Samples must be pre-wrapped or served with tongs.


Training & Oversight

  • Food safety training is encouraged (free online courses and recognized certification programs available).

  • Alberta Health Services may inspect in response to complaints or outbreaks.

  • Operators must also follow federal and municipal rules (CFIA, business licenses, zoning).

Please note; Vendors found to be neglectful or whom fail to observe the above Conditions of Use, may find additional charges are invoiced after the Christmas Market. Interfaith Food Bank reserves the right to remove any Vendor services including equipment, property, and its employees if in violation of any of the above Conditions of Use. Submission of this application does not guarantee the applicant a reservation at the above-mentioned event. All applications will be reviewed and approved or denied by the Interfaith Food Bank. In the event of a cancellation due to uncontrollable conditions (inclement weather, etc.), a full refund of payment will be issued back to the Vendor. Additional vehicles or towing vehicles must be removed from the loading area before 9:30am on December 6th.
