Records Management Policy

Interfaith Food Bank uses personal information for the purposes of managing client, volunteer, donor, and recognition programs and for developing new programs.

We do not release personal or financial information acquired from clients for purposes other than determining eligibility for services or as part of our system of addressing abuse with other service agencies.

We do not release personal or financial information acquired from donors except for memorial gifts, in which case donor names may be released to the bereaved family. Personal information can be disclosed without consent if the information is publicly available.

Interfaith Food Bank Society of Lethbridge (IFB) ensures the management of records are in accordance with federal and provincial legislation and ensures that personal information is used appropriately and responsibly in achieving the purpose for which it was collected.

IFB retains records for the sole purpose of operationalizing our mission, according to our vision and guiding principles. IFB is committed to protecting the privacy of the personal information that IFB stakeholders share with us and will maintain physical, technical and procedural safeguards to prevent loss and unauthorized access, copying, use, modification or disclosure of information contained in IFB records.

IFB records will be managed according to Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), and Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). For activities undertaken in partnership with agencies governed by the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP), FOIP will be followed.
