Interfaith Learning Garden provides a wide range of activities both related to the garden, and beyond normal gardening activities. We teach workshops related to our Food Recovery Program as well as activities made for specifically for fun!

August Events

August 2 – 7:00 to 8:00 pm

This workshop will introduce participants to various methods of flower pressing. Come collect and press flowers from our garden to take home. Suitable for all ages.

August 3, 10 - 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm

Running every Thursday in June, guided yoga will be provided by a guest volunteer. Participants need only to bring their own yoga mat and some water to enjoy these relaxing sessions. Suitable for all ages. Make sure to register so we know how many people to expect! Space is limited.

August 9 – 6:00 to 8:00 pm

This workshop will teach participants how to can and make their own jam. All materials will be provided, and participants will make some delicious jam to take home and enjoy. Suitable for all ages.

August 16 – 12:00 to 1:00 pm

At this event, participants will make fresh lemonade mixed with herbs from our garden for extra flavour. Once the lemonade is made, participants can sit back and enjoy the finished product. Suitable for all ages.

August 23 – 6:00 to 8:00 pm

At this workshop participants will learn the process of canning and pickling. Participants will make pickles to bring home and enjoy. All materials are provided. Suitable for all ages.

August 30 – 6:00 to 7:00 pm

In this workshop participants will learn how to make simple macrame plant hangers. These plant hangers provided the perfect way to grow some plants inside when you don’t have any counter space. Instructions and all materials will be provided. Participants will make a macrame plant hanger to take home and be provided with a pot to grow a plant in. Suitable for all ages. Make sure to register so we know how many supplies we need! Space is limited.

June Events

Thursdays June 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29 - 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm

June 7 - 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm

This workshop teaches participants how to make their own candles. Using fresh flowers and herbs from the garden and essential oils, these candles will not only be beautiful but will also smell great. All materials are provided, and participants will be able to take home some lovely candles of their own creation. Suitable for all ages.

June 16 - 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm

This event will be a big celebration of National Garden Days and will take place in our garden. Lunch will be provided to enjoy in our outdoor space. There will be crafts, games, and activities for both kids and adults to enjoy. Registration is not required but is recommended so that we know how much food to buy!

July 5 - 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm

At this workshop participants will learn how to make their own sugar and salt scrubs. All materials will be provided, and participants will leave with some fun scrubs to use in a shower or bath.

July 14 - 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm

Pico de Gallo is a delicious fresh salsa. At this workshop participants will get to make fresh Pico de Gallo out of vegetables and herbs collected from our garden. Once made, participants can sit outside and enjoy their yummy snack.

July 19 - 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm

At this workshop, the various methods of herb drying will be taught and participants will prepare some herbs to bring home and dry. Participants will also be taught how to use fresh or dried herbs to make tea and will be able to try some unique teas made with fresh plants from our garden.

July 25 - 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm

Come enjoy an evening in the garden making string art. String art involves hammering nails into wood outlining a design, and then filling it in with string. All the materials needed will be provided and participants will get to take home their finished project.
